What's Your Public Transportation Story

In today's challenging economic climate, maintaining a vibrant public transportation system is paramount. As we face the prospect of fare increases or service cuts (see what's happening in New York City), we look to you, our customers, for input. The importance of public transportation to our overall economic and environmental well-being cannot be taken for granted.

The youMove Massachusetts statewide planning effort has already provided us with insight into the mobility gaps and challenges you face every day (learn more about the themes that evolved from our fall workshops). As part of youMove Massachusetts, we'd now like to invite you to help us celebrate the role of public transportation in the Commonwealth by sharing your stories of why it is important to you. Perhaps you use our system to avoid paying high parking fees in downtown Boston, or to avoid the expense of owning a second car in Pittsfield. You might use it to expand your academic horizons in the Pioneer Valley, to get to your job or for shopping, or to take in the view from a Cape Cod beach. Maybe you find yourself relying on public transportation more as you get a little older and driving becomes more of a burden, or as a source of freedom because you are still too young to drive yourself. Whatever your story, we're asking you to share it with us so we can learn more about how our public transportation resources are being used.

Please provide your public transportation story and photos here. Tell us how you use our system, and what it means to you for mobility and opportunity. We will select some of your stories and images to include in an upcoming feature on this website on the importance of public transportation service in the Commonwealth.
